Allergic reactions Flashcards
4 types ABCD
A= allergic, anaphylaxis, atopy
B=antiBody
C: immune Complex
D=Delayed
Type 1
an IgE-mediated reaction, attach to receptors on basophils, mask cells, and eosinophils, resulting in inflammatory mediators and cytokine release
Type 2
a cytotoxic reaction, IgM or IgG antibodies bind to surface antigens on normal tissue cells
○ E.g. ABO incompatibility transfusion reaction
Type 3
immune-complex reactions result from IgG or IgM antibodies-antigen complexes that accumulate in the tissue and circulation. This reaction also attracts granulocytes
○ E.g. RA
Type 4
delayed T cell type reaction (hypersensitivity), mediated by T cells and monocytes/macrophages rather than by antibodies.
○ Contact dermatitis
Atopic march
development of one allergic disease predisposes the child to another disorder
