Flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry
What are some tests performed to stage a large cell lymphoma?
Haematology, chest rads, abdominal ultrasound, aspiration or spleen/liver
What does mucin look like?
Pale purple and homogeneous
What does windrowing suggest?
In a viscous fluid
What are some causes of eosinophilic lymphadenitis in a cat?
Parasitism, hypersensitivity, eosinophilic enteritis, hypereosinophilic syndrome, paraneoplastic phenomenon (secondary to MCT or lymphoma)
What do cholesterol crystals look like?
Oblong or irregularly shaped negatively staining plates
Why should epithelial inclusion cysts be excised?
Benign, but often rupture leading to a localised pyogranulomatous inflammatory response
What can cause a sterile abscess?
Foreign body
What further tests should you perform following excision of a MCT?
Aspirate draining LN, or ultrasound/aspirate spleen or liver
What further tests should you perform after diagnosing a histiocytic sarcoma?
Evaluate draining LN and check abdomen for metastases
Why must you take care when diagnosing lipoma through FNA?
Subcutaneous fat will produce the same cells
