-I came up with this game where one guy rides down the hill and the other guy tries to knock him off with a football.
*come up with : ~을 생산하다, 제시[제안]하다. How soon can you come up with the money? 그 돈을 얼마나 빨리 마련해 주실 수 있으세요?
*knock somebody off : ~를 해치우다[살해하다]
That thing was hitting thirty-five miles an hour, and it didn’t have any brakes.
*hit : 도달하다, 달성하다, (특정한 수준에) 이르다[달하다] Temperatures hit 40° yesterday. 어제는 기온이 40도에 달했다.
I thought I could just crank out my thank-you cards in a half hour, but when it came to actually writing them, my mind went blank.
*crank something out : (특히 질 낮은 물건들을) 빠르게 만들어 내다[쏟아 내다]
*when it comes to : ~라면, ~에 대해서[관해서]라면
*go blank : (마음 따위가) 텅 비다
So I wrote up a general form on the computer with blanks for the things that needed to change. Writing the cards from there was a breeze.

Rowley tried to break his fall by sticking out his arms, but he landed pretty hard on his left hand. I figured he’d just shake it off and get right back on the bike, but he didn’t.
*stick out (of something) : ~을 내밀다[튀어나오게 하다]
*shake off : 흔들어 떨어뜨리다, 회복하다, 따돌리다 / *어떤 불편한 상황을 무시하고 넘어가다
I tried to cheer him up, but all the jokes that usually crack him up weren’t working.
*cheer somebody up : 기분을 띄워 주다
*crack somebody up :~를 몹시 웃기다
