Auto Crimes Unit detectives shall be notified 24 hours a day when:
- Multiple vehicles (five or more) are broken into the same proximity;
- Cargo thefts in excess of a loss of $100,000 or more if the load was stolen within the last 24 hours;
- Any JSO property is stolen from a vehicle, or any privately owned rifles authorized by JSO to carry on-duty
Should the victim not have the local registration or tag information, the registration details may be available through NCIC by the registered owner’s name. In such cases, officers shall:
a. Contact NCIC and attempt to obtain the information to complete an incident report; and
b. If NCIC does not have the data available, an Auto Theft Report shall still be completed, but the vehicle shall not be entered into NCIC as stolen until the registration information is completed.
Thefts of farm/construction equipment, boats, trailers, bicycles, personal watercraft and airplanes are to be reported as what?

Frequently rented vehicles does not require a waiting period. These offenses shall be reported as a fraud and immediately entered in FCIC/NCIC. These reports shall be routed to the Economic Crimes Unit.
Officers responding to incidents where a rental vehicle has not been returned to the company from which it was rented shall title the report as Failure to Redeliver a Hired Vehicle unless it is obviously fraudulently obtained.
