13. MTB Step 3 - ECGs Flashcards
ARRHYTHMIAS
What are the (3) Simplified Criteria for Recognition of Atrial FIBRILLATION on ECG?
- Multiple F-waves replace P-waves at a Rate of 350 - 650 bpm
- Irregular Ventricular response (R-R cycle constantly varying). If the Ventricular rate is Rapid, Irregularity is More Difficult to Determine.
- The QRS resembles that of the Normal Cardiac rhythm.

What are the (3) Simplified Criteria used for recognizing Atrial FLUTTER on ECG?
- Repetitive Firing of ONE focus in the Atria with a Regular F-F cycle between 220 - 350 bpm.
- F-waves replace P-waves
- The QRS complex usually resembles that of the Normal Cardiac Rhythm.

What are the (3) Simplified Criteria for Recognition of Accelerated JUNCTIONAL Rhythm and JUNCTIONAL Tachycardia on ECG?
- Rapid and Repetitive firing of Six or more JPCs in a row.
- The QRS usually resembles that of the Normal cardiac rhythm.
- The Ventricular Rate is between 60 - 99 bpm for an Accelerated Junctional Rhythm and between 100 - 220 bpm for a Junctional Tachycardia.

What is the Cause of Junctional Ectopic Rhythms?
Repetitive and Rapid firing of an Ectopic Focus located In or Around the AV Junction.
