begins in rectum and spreads prximally to entire colon
what is colorectal cancer?
tumors of the colon and rectum
spreading of cancer to the peritoneum, liver and lungs

what are the different features of an ileostomy, colostomy and urostomy/ileal conduct?
urostomy/ilial conduct - flatter appearance, round shape, right hand side and urine output
colonotomy shorter lenth, round shape, left hand side and soft output
iliostomy - longer lenth, cone-shaped, righ hand side and liquid output
what is a feaocl diverson system?
inserted into rectum and then inflated and allows contents to bypass the anus

how should you assess a stoma?
ask normal appearance and function
determin if pt attmepeted self respolution
listen in 4 quadrents for bowel sounds
asess stoma for colour, warmth, activity, mucus and odor and peri-stomal skin activity
stomas are insentiate-no pain
