A Temporary behavior of atmosphere (what’s going on at a certain time)
Where does weather occur?
Over a small geographic area and can change rapidly

Meteorolgy
What is climate?
Long term behavior of atmosphere (100+ years)
Where does climate occur?
Large Geographic area and very slow to change
Where does polar weather occur?
90-60 degrees latitude from the equator
Where does temperate weather occur?
60-30 degrees latitude from the equator
What kind of weather does temperate suggest?
All seasons/Variety of Climate/Moderate Precipitation
Where does tropical weather occur?
30-0 degrees latitude from the equator
What kind of weather does tropical suggest?
No winter/Warm all the time/ Severe rainfall and humidity
What can affect weather and climate?
The Sun
The Water Cycle
Gravity
The Ocean
What are some ways that the sun affects weather?
Warms the land and ocean surfaces
The surfaces warms the atmosphere
What is evaporation?
What is condensation?
Water going from a liquid to a gas (gains energy from the sun)
Water going from a gas to a liquid (cools or loses energy)
What is transpiration?
What is precipitation?
Evaporation of water (From plants)
When water falls out of the atmosphere (Water Droplets become to heavy)
How does the atmosphere affect weather?
The atmosphere is a mixture of gases that surrounds the Earth
