Visual perception Flashcards
Visual perception
Product of visual perception has different properties:
1. lightness/brightness
2. Color
3. Form
4. Depth
5. Motion
Lightness/brightness
Produced by the brain, can’t measure. Not sure how yet, thought lateral inhibition but this is not the case.
Simultaneous lightness/brightness contrast phenomenon
Fact that visual illusions exist and even though you know they’re the same but are experienced different.
Colour
White light trough prism shows all colours. Depends on wavelength and has 3 properties
Hue; color
Saturation: colourfulness
Brightness; see before
Trichromates
Three types of cones. Short medium long, blueish greenish yellowish. Although color contrast plays a role ,identical physical properties can have different experience. Processed in V4
Cerebral achromotopsia
Damage to V4, unable to see color
