Theoretical models Flashcards

1
Q

Feature integration theory

A

Maps of features of stimuli like color, form, motion etc. are processed early. Therefore popout is easy. On map’; color. Conjuction is a bit slower as it combines two maps

A

Features are bound into perception of objects: illusory conjunction. Incorrectly reporting stimulus with both if they are presented shortly

Q

Guided search

A

Two components determine where attention is given;

activation map of stimulus features. Depends on salience maps

Activation map governed by top down influence ; depends on prior knowledge of which stimuli share features

Q

Brain areas active in visual search

A

Same as endogenous control; frontal/parietal. Stops when it’s found.

Q

N2pc wave

A

Negative wave when stimulus is found. Occurs in Posterior areas Contralateral to side of target.
