Brain network mapping Flashcards
1
Q
Mesulam’s model
A
Earliest. Frontal component, parietal component and limbic component with reticular formation as arousal regulator
2
Q
Posner and Petersen’s model
A
Based on PET. Proposes an anterior and posterior attentional system.
- Alerting system: frontal and parietal (right mostly), distribution of norepinephrine
- Orienting system; Superior parietal region, TPJ, frontal region and superior colliculi/pulvinar. controlled by acetylcholine
- Executive system: Anterior cingulate and lateral prefrontal. Dopaminergic activity
3
Q
Corbetta and Shulman’s model
A
Two systems;
- First system; Intraparietal cortex and superior frontal cortex. Controls on relevant stimuli and repsonses based on goals. Endogenous control
- second system; TPJ and ventral frontal cortex (mostly right). Detecting relevant stimuli when salient and unexpected. Exogenous
4
Q
Generality of attentional control system
A
It invokes the same brain areas in many tasks
