Q

Posner and Petersen’s model

A

Based on PET. Proposes an anterior and posterior attentional system.
- Alerting system: frontal and parietal (right mostly), distribution of norepinephrine
- Orienting system; Superior parietal region, TPJ, frontal region and superior colliculi/pulvinar. controlled by acetylcholine
- Executive system: Anterior cingulate and lateral prefrontal. Dopaminergic activity

Q

Corbetta and Shulman’s model

A

Two systems;

  • First system; Intraparietal cortex and superior frontal cortex. Controls on relevant stimuli and repsonses based on goals. Endogenous control
  • second system; TPJ and ventral frontal cortex (mostly right). Detecting relevant stimuli when salient and unexpected. Exogenous
