An area that surrounds a large French Army with a larger Vietnamese army and defeats the French in a huge battle.

Who won in the Vietnamese vs French war?
France is defeated again.
How does this concern the United States?
Well, France is trying to keep Communism out of this part of Asia but it failed.
When were the Geneva Accords?
1954
What did they settle at the Geneva Accords??
Vietnam will be split between North and South. North Vietnam is Communist and South is non-Communist for the time being until the country takes a vote as to which side should rule.
Who is South Vietnams leader and what does he do?
Ngo Dinh Diem knows that South Vietnam will not win the election so he never holds one.
What does the U.S. know Ngo Dinh Diem as?
A potential ally against the spread of communism.
What do some people call Diem?
A CIA puppet
