An ethical system originated by Confucius, that outlined social order and political behavior.
What did Confucius teach about harmony?
He said that harmony resulted when people accepted their place in society.
What did Shi Huangdi do to consolidate power?
He used Legalism.
What is legalism?
Strict following of the law
How did Shi Huangdi do with legalism?
He created laws that would keep him in power.
What gigantic projects did Shi Huangdi take on?
The Great Wall of China.
Why did Shi Huangdi decide to start building the great wall of China?
To protect China from the Huns.
What did Shi Huangdi do that he thought would make him live forever?
He drank mercury.
What was the Silk Road?
A national road system and trading system between Europe and China.
What did Shi Huangdi do to ensure stability?
He outlawed and burned books.
What was the Civil Service Exam?
A test any male could take, if you did well, you were brought to the emperor court, got payed well, and were considered a genius. The exam still happens today.
