Precautions: Patients with any of the following disease processes: epilepsy, migraines, asthma, CHF, angina, or renal disease
Interactions: Alcohol, lithium, and heparin
Onset is immediate and may last 30-60 minutes
To be used in the ACLS algorithm as an alternative to Epinephrine ONCE as the first or second medication administered.
Algorithm states Epinephrine is the next (and only) drug given following Vasopressin to complete the full arrest scenario.
NOT used in pediatric arrests.
