Reteplase Flashcards
Reteplase- Name
Retavase
Reteplase- Class
Thrombolytic
Reteplase- MoA
Plasminogen activator that catalyzes cleavage of endogenous plasminogen to generate plasmin, this degrades the thrombus matrix, causing thrombolysis.

Occlusive stroke
Reteplase- Contra
Active internal bleeding
Aneurysm
Brain tumor
History of hemorrhagic stroke
Severe uncontrolled hypertension
Recent surgery or trauma
Reteplase- S/E
Cardiovascular: hemorrhage, embolism, CHF, ventricular fibrillation, cardiac arrest, cardiac tamponade
Reteplase- Routes
IV, IO
Reteplase- A. Dose
10 Units over 2 minutes with a single repeat in 30 minutes
Reteplase- P. Dose
not recommended
Reteplase- EXTRAS
Precautions: Lactation
Interactions: Use in combination with other anticoagulants may increase bleeding
Onset in 10-15 minutes and may last 30 minutes
Should anaphylaxis occur, stop administration and treat for reaction and any reperfusion dysrhythmias
