Plan to ensure a business has the right balance of skills to meet requirements

Human resource planning
What is the process for producing a workforce plan?
- Identify overall goals
- Discuss implication of goals on staff
- Look at required future skills
- Produce the plan
Explain why it is important that the workforce is effective and efficient?
Avoid staff leaving, meet consumer needs
What factors does there need to be a balance between them and why?
Age, innovation and skills
What can affect human resource needs?
Budget, technology replacing manual, change in business needs
What factors can affect a businesses ability to meet its HR needs?
Worker availability, worker skills, location, work involved
What is outsourcing?
A Business contracts jobs to use other businesses labour
What is flexi-time?
Period of time where employees have to be present, after they work around their lifestyles
What is term-time working?
The employee doesn’t work during school holidays
What is structured Time off in Lieu?
Employees work longer during busy periods and can take longer off less busy periods
What is job-sharing?
Employees share jobs at different times
What is remote working?
Working away from the business premises
What are compressed hours?
Work a shorter week, but longer shifts
What are annualised hours?
Need to work a total number of hours a year
