  • Negative (lower) pressure relative to atmosphere
  • When stabbed: air rushes causing lung to collapse
    a. Pressure of this decreases when inhale: as diaphragm contracts, lung cavity opens up and this increase in volume equates to decrease in pressure
  • As pressure increases, volume decreases
  • Inside lungs: as we inhale, volume of lungs expands as diaphragm drops: this creates negative pressure relative to atmosphere
