  • The plasma, minus fibrinogen, results in serum, and most plasma proteins are formed in the liver, although gamma globulin that make antibodies are formed in lymph tissue. Plasma proteins act as a source of amino acids for tissue protein replacement.
  • All blood cells arise from stem cell precursors in bone marrow; erythrocytes lose their nucleus while still there, and then exit to blood and lose the rest of their organelles soon after
