Criteria for Schizophrenia
at 2 least psychotic domain symptoms ( one has to be 1 of the core symptoms) for greater than a month then need at least one symptom to persist for 6 months
Schizophrenia core symptoms
- Delusions
- Hallucinations
- Disorganized speech

Positive symptoms
Overactivity of the mesolimbic DA
VTA to basal forebrain

Negative Symptoms
Underactivity of mesocortical DA
VTA to prefrontal cortex
Neurostructural changes Schizophrenia
Enlarged Lateral ventricles
Cortical and hippocampal atrophy
Decreased Volume of Thalamus
Neurofunctional Changes Schizophrenia
Hypofrontality( decreased frontal metabolism)
Neurodevelopmental signs of Schizophrenia
Hippocampal cellular disorganization
Increased neurological soft signs( can’t tell right from left)
Increased minor physical anomalies( wide set eyes, curved 5th finger)
Schizophreniform Criteria
At least 1 month of Active phase symptoms for LESS than 6 months
Brief Psychotic Disorder
1 Core psychotic symptom for less than a month
Specify with or without stressor
Schizoaffective Critera
Active phase of schizophrenia occurs with a MDE then last greater than 2 weeks without mood symptoms
Cluster A personalities
(Odd-eccentric)
Paranoid
Schizoid
Schizotypal
Cluster B Personalities
(Dramatic/emotional/erratic) Histrionic Borderline Narcissistic Antisocial
Cluster C Personalities
(anxious/fearful)
Avoidant
Dependent
Obsessive-Compulsive
Anti Social Personality Disorder Criteria
Person MUST be 18
and MUST be evidence of Conduct Disorder before age 15
General disregard for other rights
Differential Schizoid Personality Disorder and Avoidant personality
Schizoid has no desire for relationships
