Latissimus Dorsi origin
Spinous processes of T7 – L5 vertebrae
Iliac crest of sacrum.
Thoracolumbar fascia.
Inferior angle of the scapula.
Lower three or four ribs.
Latissimus Dorsi insertion
Floor of intertubercular (bicipital) groove of humerus.
Latissimus Dorsi nerve supply
Thoracodorsal nerve C6, C7, and C8.
Latissimus Dorsi actions
shoulder adduction, extension & medial rotation

Teres Major origin
Lower lateral border and inferior angle of the scapula.
Teres Major insertion
Medial lip of the intertubercular (bicipital) groove of the anterior humerus.
Teres Major nerve supply
Lower subscapular nerve C5, C6, and C7.

shoulder extension, adduction & medial rotation

Pectoralis Major origin
Clavicular head: medial half of the clavicle.
Sternal head: sternum, upper costal cartilages (1-6), and the aponeurosis of the external oblique.
Pectoralis Major insertion
Lateral lip of the intertubercular (bicipital) groove of the humerus.
Crest of the greater tubercle of the humerus.
Pectoralis Major nerve supply
Lateral pectoral nerve to the clavicular head C5, C6, C7
Medial pectoral nerve to the sternal head C8 and T1
Pectoralis Major action
Shoulder flexion, adduction and medial rotation.
