Tibialis Anterior, Tibialis Posterior.
Tibialis Anterior origin
Lateral condyle of the tibia, the proximal two-thirds of the lateral surface of the tibia, the interosseous membrane, the deep surface of the fascia cruris, and the intermuscular septum between it and the extensor Digitorum longus
Tibialis Anterior insertion
Medial cuneiform and the base of the first metatarsal
Tibialis Anterior nerve supply
Deep peroneal nerve (L4, L5, S1)
Tibialis Anterior action
Dorsiflexes the ankle,
inverts the foot
Tibialis Anterior function
allows sole of foot to face medially
Tibialis posterior origin
The posterior surface of the tibia, the posterior surface of the fibula, and the interosseous membrane.
Tibialis posterior insertion
Navicular and medial cuneiform, bases of metatarsals 2 - 4, the second and third cuneiform, and the cuboid
Tibialis posterior nerve supply
Tibial nerve (L4, L5)
Tibialis posterior action
Plantarflexes and inverts the ankle
Tibialis posterior function
Allows sole of foot to face medially
