The Shoulder Girdle Retractors Flashcards
Name The Shoulder Girdle Retractors
Rhomboids Major and Minor, Trapezius
Rhomboids Major origin
Spinous process of T2-T5 vertebrae
Rhomboids Major insertion
Medial border of scapula inferior to spina scapulae
Rhomboids Major nerve supply
Dorsal scapular nerve C5
Rhomboids Major Action
Retracts the medial border of scapula while it downwardly rotates the lateral angle.
Elevates the medial border of scapula while it downwardly rotates the lateral angle.
Or
Elevates, retracts and medially rotates pectoral girdle
Rhomboids Major Function
Pushing up out of a chair
Rhomboids minor origin
Spinous process of C7-T1 vertebrae
Rhomboids minor insertion
Medial border of scapula superior to spina scapulae
Rhomboids minor nerve supply
Dorsal scapular nerve C5
Rhomboids minor action
Retracts the medial border of scapula while it downwardly rotates the lateral angle.
Elevates the medial border of scapula while it downwardly rotates the lateral angle.
Rhomboids minor function
Pushing up out of a chair
Trapezius origin
Medial 1/3 superior nuchal line & external occipital spinous processes & supraspinatus ligament C7-T12
Trapezius insertion
Posterior border lateral 1/3 of clavicle, acromion medial border & upper border of scapula spine
Trapezius nerve supply
Spinal accessory nerve (XI)
Trapezius actions
Retracts, elevates & laterally rotates pectoral girdle
Extend & laterally flex neck
Lower fibres depress scapula
