What is an organ?
An organ is a part of an organism that carries out specific functions.
What is a system?
A system is a group of SEVERAL ORGANS that work together to perform coordinated functions for the body.
Describe the MUSCULO-SKELETAL system.
The musculo-skeletal systems provide an organism with support, protection and allows it to move. Organs of the musculo-skeletal system include bones and muscles.
Describe the NERVOUS system.
The nervous system controls an organism’s behaviour. Organs in the nervous system include the BRAIN, SPINAL CORD and SENSORY ORGANS.
Describe the DIGESTIVE system.
The digestive system takes in food, breaks it down, and absorbs the nutrients. Organs of the digestive system include the MOUTH, OESOPHAGUS, STOMACH, SMALL INTESTINE, LARGE INTESTINE, LIVER and PANCREAS.
Describe the CIRCULATORY system.
The circulatory system transports food, oxygen, waste materials and heat around the body. Organs of the circulatory system include the HEART and BLOOD VESSELS.
