Static Cardiology ( Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)

- Scene safe/BSI
- Administer O2 to keep SPO2 above 94%
- Full patient assessment
- Call for paramedic intercept if needed
- Sit patient upright, with head between 30 and 90 degrees
- Assist with patients nitro with systolic BP above 140 mmHg
- Consider cardiac monitoring and 12-lead if available
- Establish IV access, limit fluids but have them ready because…. *If patient complains of chest pain/pressure/discomfort, administer nitro with systolic BP above 100
- Consider CPAP, starting at a PEEP of 5cmH2O and a FiO2 of 32% (Max PEEP of 10)
- Transport to the closest appropriate facility
- Check BGL while en route
