Lidocaine 2%
Class:
Anesthetic, Antidysrhythmic
Lidocaine 2%
Mechanism of Action:
Causes loss of sensation by reducing the flow of sodium in and out of nerves to decrease the initiation and transfer of nerve signals.

Indications:
Decrease pain associated with Intraosseous (IO) fluid administration in a conscious patient.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity

Precautions:
Be sure IO is placed correctly. Accidental administration of lidocaine may have other effects.

Side Effects:
Parathesias and transient pain during administration.

Interactions:
AEMT’s should only be using in conscious patient before fluid administration.

Dosage:
Adult: 1-2.5 ml’s (20-50 mg)
Pedi: 0.5mg/kg
