What is Par-Q?
Defenition: a self-screening tool that can be used by anyone who is planning to start an exercise or training routine.(Physical activity readiness questionare)
Why do we warm up?
-prepare the muscle
-prepare the joints
-prepare the mind
-prevent the chance of injury
-prepare the cardiovascular system
-prepare the ligaments
What are the 3 phases of a warm up?
-cardiovascular (gradually increasing heart rate)
-stretching (dynamic)
-sport specific (matching activity-catching for a goalkeeper)
What are the 2 phases of a cool down?
-static stretches (hold for 30-35seconds)
-light cardio (5-10mins)
What is the point of a cool down?
-decrease breathing rate and heart rate
-disipate latic acid away from muscles
-decrease muscle temperature
-reduce risk of injury
