What are the 5 functions of the skeletal system?
• Protection of vital organs (rib coge for internal organs e.c.t)
• Muscle attachment
• joints for movement
• Storing calcium and phosphorus
• Red and white blood cell production
Where is the cranium located ?
Also known as the skull,located at the top of your body. Protects your brain
Where is the clavicle located?
Also known as the collar bone. Located inline with the shoulders above the sternum
Where is the sternum located?
Imbetween both pectoral muscles.where the rib cage meets
Where is the humerus located?
Bigger bone in the arm. Top half of the arm (bicep and tricep)
Where is the radius located?
Lower part of the arm (forearms) on the outside
Where is the ulna located?
Lower part of arm. Near to pinky. Inside
Where is the femur located?
Biggest bone in body. Upper part of leg (quad and hamstring).
Where is the patella located?
Knee cap
Where is the tarsals located?
Near to ankle. Top part of foot
Where is the metatarsals located?
Middle part of foot (m for middle)
Where is the phalanges located?
End of foot (toes)
Where is the scapula located?
Shoulder blade (top of your back)
Where is the ribs located?
Middle of body (protect vital organs)
Where is the vertebral column located?
Under rib cage. Bottom of back
