Soc 18-Areobic,Anaerobic Exercise And energy Sources Flashcards

1
Q

Where is glucose stored?

A

Muscles and liver store glucose and glycogen. This then can be converted back to glucose during exercise

Q

Latic acid?

A

Lactic acid: a colourless acid produced in muscle tissues during strenuous exercise when the body is exercising anaerobically at high intensity.

Q

Aerobic? (Equation)

A

Training with oxygen at a moderate intensity.
Glucose + oxygen === water + carbon dioxide + energy (ATP)
C02 and water are bi-waste products.

Q

Anaerobic? (Equation)

A

Training without oxygen at a high intensity
Glucose === energy + latic acid
Latic acid (waste product)

Q

Fat? (What they do e.t.c)

A

-Provide energy for moderate intensity (aerobic)
-long periods of time
-fats are broken down into fatty acids, which are absorbed into the blood and delivered to cells (in muscles)
-fatty acids that are not needed are stored in fat cells
(E.g butter,cooking oils,bacon,cheese,fish and nuts)

Q

Carbohydrates? (Job)

A

-provide energy for moderate intensity (aerobic) and high intensity (anaerobic)
-can only be stored for 1-2 days
-broken down into glucose or glycogen, which can absorbed through the small intestines into the blood
-excess glucose is stored in the liver and ready to be distributed if your blood glucose levels get too low
