socio-economic group - can affect choice of sport, but things change; cost can be a factor
How can ethnicity affect engagement in sports?
ethnicity - some sports more common in certain groups; racism in sport
How does disability affect engagement in sports?
disability - resources and opportunities may be fewer
How can people affect engagement in sports?
people - peer group, family, role models
What is commercialisation of sport?
Commercialisation - making something available on the market, or using something to make a profit. (Connected by media coverage,sponsorship and fashions)
What are the advantages of commercialisation in sports?
advantages - e.g. more funding, wider audience, active lifestyle, awareness
What are the disadvantages of commercialisation in sports?
disadvantages - e.g. higher prices, sponsors lead sport, ‘beauty parade’

What is sportsmanship?
sportsmanship - competitor plays to the rules and does not try to cheat
What is gamesmanship?
gamesmanship - competitor aims to win by any means, within or outside of the rules
What is deviance?
deviance - behaviour that falls outside the norms of what is thought to be acceptable
