Soc 5. Principles Of Training Flashcards
What is SPIF?
S = specificity P = progressive overload I = Individual needs F = FITT (F=frequency,I=intensity,T=time,T=type)
What is specificity?
Specificity is matching your training method to the sport you are doing.
What is progressive overload?
This is when you train harder than normal. This is the inly way to improve health. Slowly increasing how hard you are training so doung 10kg reps, to 12kg reps.
What is individual needs?
It’s matching training to the individual, so a 70yr old man and a 23yr old sports professional will have different training methods.
What is Frenquency (in FITT)?
This is how often you train, this can help in progressive overload.
What is Intensity (in FITT)?
This is how hard you work, it’s carried out as part of progressive overload.
What is Time (in FITT)?
How long you are training for, in progressive overload you might change a 45minute session to 1hour session.
What is type (in FITT)?
Making sure your method is linked with your goals and your specificity.
