Women’s participation levels are increasing however men are still participating in sport more
Why do some sports tend to have less men/women playing them
Some sports are seen to be more ‘male’/’female’ meaning there are less oppourtunities for people who are of that gender to find a team

How can age effect a person’s ability to participate in sport
Some sports have age restrictions e.g the london Marathon,you have to be at least 18 to do it
Work,family responsibilities and health problems may prevent an adult from competing
Some activities may lend themselves to younger/older people
How can your socio economic group effect your ability to participate in sport
Most activities have associated costs which some may not be able to afford
Some sports such as polo and rowing tend to be more ‘middle class sports’ whether as sports like football and boxing tend to be more ‘working class’
How can somebody’s ethnicity and religion impact their participation in sport
It can influence whether you play sport and what sports you play,e.g south asians tend to play cricket and there aren’t as much oppourtunities for things like football
In countries such as Fiji and Tonga Rugby is a part of their culture
Racism is still an issue in many sports
Certain religions may have sabbaths on match days or training days which limits what sports you can play and when
