The interaction of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to working muscles during exersice
Aorta
Part of the heart where by blood leaves the heart

Large vein bringing deoxygenated blood into the heart

Used to control blood flow
Pulmonary
To do with the lungs
Cusp
A triangular flod or flap of a heart valve
Vein
Tube that carries blood back to the heart
Artery
A muscular tube that carries blood away from the heart
Capillaries
Distribute blood within the organs
Systole
The first phase when the heart contracts and pumps blood into the arteries
Diastole
The phase of the heartbeat when its relaxed and is filled with blood
Blood pressure
Pressure of the blood against the walls of the blood vessels, espically the arteries
Vascular shunting
When the blood is directed the muscles that are working at the time , this is done by vaso dilating and vaso constiction
Haemogoblin
A red protein in the blood that transports oxygen
Pathogen
An agent that causes disease such as a virus
Antibody
Chemical that destroys a pathogen
Inspiration
Breathing in
Expiration

Respiration
The movement of air from outside the body into the cells within tissues.
Diaphram
The primary muscle used in the process of inspiration or inhalation.
Alveoli
Tiny sacs at the end of the bronchioles, where gas exchange takes place.
Gaseous exchange
The delivery of oxygen from the lungs to the bloodstream and the removal of carbon dioxide from the tissues.
Haemoglobin
A type of protein found in every red blood cell.
