mostly gram negative bacilli
how is it diagnosed
history
examination
investigations
what things would be investigated
mircrobio - blood, stool, urine, wound, tissue culture microscopy - stool, urine, CSF, sputum serology antigen detection PCR/molecular studies
treatment for sepsis and enterococci in GI tract
amoxicillin
cotrimoxazole is allergic and when criteria for oral switch
vancomycin also active
treatment for sepsis and coliforms
gentamicin
azetreonam if allergic
co-trimoxazole when criteria for oral switch
treatment for sepsis and anaerobes
metrondiazole IV then oral
