A
painless bleeding - fresh bright red blood, not mixed with stool

how is it diagnosed
A
inspection - obvious if 3rd degree piles
PR exam
protoscopy
rigid/flexible (in age >50) sigmoidoscopy

what does the classical position of haemorrhoids correspond to
A
branches of superior haemorrhoidal artery occuring at 3, 7 and 11 olock with patient in lithotomy position

how is it treated
A
nothing if asymptomatic gel, cream, ice pack band ligation haemorrhoidectomy (open or stapled) sclerosant therapy (injectable irritant) HALO/THD procedure

what is HALO/THD procedure
A
haemorrhoidal artery ligation
mini doppler US located branches of arteries supplying haemorrhoids and these are tied off so haemorrhoid shrinks
