A
there is opening in anal canal and one or more external openings on peri-anal skin
also rarely by crohn’s disease, TB and carcinoma

A
abscess formation

how is it diagnosed
A
EUA or anorectum (exam under anaesthetic)
rigid sigmoidoscopy, proctoscopy
flexible sigmoidoscopy
MRI

how is it treated
A
cut it open seton stitch (draining, cutting) LIFT procedure Glue/permacol Defunctioning colostomy (insertion of stoma)

what are the complications
A
pain, bleeding, incontinence of flatus or stool, recurrence, further surgery
