A
exocrine pancreas
at head of pancreas and ampulla of vater

what are causes
A
smoking alcohol excess high caffeine intake chronic pancreatitis diabetes

what are symptoms
A
jaundice
dark urine with pale stools
abdominal and back pain
weight loss

how is it diagnosed
A
US may show obstructed ducts
CT would confirm mass lesions

how is it treated
A
surgery involved resection and anastomosis to small bowel (head - surgery possible, tail - too late mate)
palliation (ERCP?)

what are complications
A
direct spread to other organs eg duodenum, stomach and spleen
spread to local lymph nodes
haematogenous spread to liver
