A risk control measure is something that is put in place to control a certain type of job on board a vessel. For example a Permit to work.

They can be used for:

• Work in unmanned machinery space
• Entry into enclosed space
• Hot work
• Working aloft/overside
• General electrical (under 1000 volts)
• High voltage

How long is a PTW valid for?

PTW should be only valid for 24 hours and should be only signed off by an officer if all control measures have been put into place.
