stages
- prodrome
- acute encephalitis - hypersensitivity, meningeal signs, madness
- brainstem encephalitis - cranial nerve dysfunction characteristic foaming of mouth
- death due to Respiratory centre - dysfunction
get bitten protocol
- wash the wound to mechanically remove with soap and water
- animals should be captured or killed (wait for Ip)
- individual receives immunoglobulin ( passive) GIVEN AS CLOSE TO THE BITE AS POSSIBLE followed by injection 5 injections
oNLY GIVE IMMUNOGLOBULIN TO THOSE NOT VACCINATED
