via the urine of animals either in lakes, foods etc such as rats through skin and mucous membranes
who’s at risk for the disease
people who spend a lot of time in water like rice field workers, sportsmen
sympoms
fever also called as swamp fever or mud fever
weils disease also called hepatic renal hemorrhagic syndrome
is a severe form of the disease that affects the liver , characterised by jaundice, albuminuria conjunctivitis and haemorrhage in many ordains
diagnosis
blood +csf samples are used in the 1st wee
urine of patient see bacteria
epidemiology
globally sitribtued disease but found most commonly in India and Brazil and Thailand
phases
phase 1: invade blood and CSF ( bacteria phase diagnosis) Classically, the conjunctiva are red and the patient experiences photophobia
ohase 1 is called septic phase
in phases 1 patient may recover for a while but then get ill again
if second phase appears its more sevres such as kidney failure, aseptic meningitis etc. phase 2 immune phase
treatment
mild : doxycline
severe: penicillin
