diphtheria antitoxin but only works on the free toxin (like tetanus)
antibiotic - macrolide like whooping cough for 2 weeks
contacts
a booster vaccine
monitored for the incubation period
need swabs to see if its a pathogenic strain cos not all strains are pathogenic and those who have it should be isolated and given antibiotics
types of diphtheria
Diphtheria can involve almost any mucous membrane. For clinical purposes, it is convenient to classify diphtheria into type of manifestation, depending on the site of disease:
Respiratory diphtheria
Nasal diphtheria
Pharyngeal and tonsillar diphtheria
Laryngeal diphtheria
Cutaneous diphtheria
EPI
<5 but can also affect non immune adults
