22
Q

What connects the pterygopalatine fossa with the infratemportal fossa?

A

Pterygomaxillary fissure

23
Q

Anterior border of pterygopalatine fossa

24
Q

Posterior border of pterygopalatine fossa

A

Pterygoid process of sphenoid

25
What exits the inferior orbital fissure?
Zygomatic nerve, infraorbital nerve and infraorbital artery
26
What joins in the pterygoid canal?
Greater petrosal nerve and Deep petrosal nerve
27
Describe how parasympathetic fibers can reach the lacrimal gland
- Presynaptic parasympathetic fibers travel on the greater petrosal nerve (CN VII) through the pterygoid canal to synapse at the pterygopalatine ganglion - Fibers then jump on the the maxillary nerve - Continue down the zygomatic nerve and use a communicating branch to reach the lacrimal nerve (V1) - Fibers reach the lacrimal gland
28
What carries post-synaptic sympathetic fibers to the pterygopalatine fossa and do they synapse at the pterygopalatine ganglion?
Deep petrosal nerve and nope
