Pertaining to body parts nearest the trunk or point of attachment of the body part
Eg. Toe bones near to the foot - proximal phalanges
Toe bones farthest from the foot-
distal phalanges
Eg - proximal end of humerus the upper hand(arm) bone is attached to the shoulder
DIST/AL
Pertaining to away from the point of attachment .
Tip: distal = distance
Eg the distal end of the humerus the long arm bone is attached to the eldow
