A
32
Q

Cause of Pott’s fracture ?

A

The injury is caused by a combined abduction external rotation from an eversion force.

33
Q

Explain the chain of events in Pott’s fracture

A

The injury is caused by a combined abduction external rotation from an eversion force&raquo_space; strains medial (deltoid) ligament of the ankle&raquo_space; tearing off the medial malleolus (due to its strong attachment)
» The talus then moves laterally shearing off the lateral malleolus

• more commonly, breaking the fibula superior to the tibiofibular syndesmosis joint.
