MMB[050] Back Of Leg Flashcards
Origin and insertion of Gastrocnemius muscle ?
Action of superficial group back of leg muscle ?
Action of Flexor hallucis longus ?
1) Flexion of all joints of big toe.
2) Assists in plantar flexion of the foot.
3) Inversion of the foot.
4) Supports the medial longitudinal arch of foot.
Action of Flexor digitorum longus ?
1) Flexion of the metatarsophalangeal and interphalangeal joints of the lateral 4 toes (it flexes the distal phalanges of the toes when the foot is off the ground).
2) When the foot is on the ground and under load, it acts with the lumbricals and interossei to maintain the pads of the toes in firm contact with the ground.
3) Assists in plantar flexion of the foot.
4) Supports longitudinal arch of foot (mainly the medial).
5) Weak invertor of the foot.
Action of Tibialis posterior muscle ?
1) It is a strong invertor and powerful plantar flexor of the foot
2) It supports the medial longitudinal and transverse arches of the foot
