When man is over 40 what happens to risk?
Increaases
Presentation of miscarriage?
Bleeding
Pain is similar to period
What is presentation of threatened miscarriage?
Bleeding but cervical os is closed
If women has bleeding but confirmed intrauterine pregnancy with fetal HR?
Give advice to return if bleeding gets worse or persists for more than 14 days
REST
What is an imcomplete or inevitable miscarraige?
Products are sited at open os
-patient usually has bleeding and some pain
Pregnancy is lost, can’t be saved
Complete miscarraige identification?
Products are in vagina and os is closed
-Miscarriage has happened/pregnancy lost
Management of inevitable/complete miscarriage?
- Wait for it to complete (7-14 days after miscarriage confirmed)
- Medical: misoprostol to induce uterie contractions when contents have been expelled naturally or women doesn’t want to wait
Surgical: dilation and vacuum of uterus
Medical management of complete miscarriage?
Misoprostol
What does misoprostol do?
Induces uterine contractions for if contents have been expelled naturally or women doesn’t want to wait
On misoprostol contents are normally expelled within?
48-72 hours
When would surgical managemnet be chosen?
Heavy/persistent bleeding
Presence of infected tissue
Person unstable
