What is adenomyosis?

A

-Condition where endometrial tissue is found in myometrium

Endometrial deposits communicate with uterine cavity but often contain altered blood in the glands which become cystic

A
  • Parous women (have produced offspring)

- Usually diagnosed in 4th decade

A
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding and dysmenorrhea (menorrhagia)

- Condition regresses after menopause
