What are endometrial polyps?
A
Localized outgrowths from the surface of endometrium

Aetiology of polyps?
A
- Can occur at any age, usually around or after menopause
- Benign(endometrial carcinoma can present as polyp though)
- Implicated in sub-fertility

Presentation of endometrial polyps?
A
- Usually asymptomatic
- Can contribute to abnormal uterine bleeding or discharge
- Pain sometimes if uterus tries to expel polyp

Why would endometrial polyps hurt?
A
If uterus tries to expel polyp

Investigation of endometrial polyps?
A
- Transvaginal US
- Can do hysteroscopy with biopsy

Treatment of asymptomatic polyps?
A
May resolve spontaneously and watchful waiting = treatment

Treatment of symptomatic polyps?
A
Can be removed surgically, using modern equipment and can often be done without Generak anaesthetic
