Microtubules and stuff Flashcards
1
Q
Microtubules
A
Shape & support the cell & also serve as tracks along which organelles equipped w/ motor proteins can move.
2
Q
Microfilaments (actin filaments)
A
In cytoskeleton can help bear tension, can form structural networks. Can increase the cell’s surface area (microvilli). Can also lead to muscle contractions (when interacting with myosin).
3
Q
Intermediate filaments
A
Most permanent fixtures of the cell of the three, reinforces shape and can help fix the position of certain organelles.
4
Q
Actin filaments (mitosis)
A
Pull the microtubules back in anaphase
5
Q
Microtubules (mitosis)
A
The spindles that hold the chromosomes at the metaphase plate
