Section 2……Fires or explosions investigation
they shall begin such investigation forthwith after such fire or explosion.
if it appears of suspicious origin or violation of law, or unable to determine cause…shall immediately notify the marshal.
all other fires or explosions shall within 48 hours,excluding sunday and holidays
Section 2A……unauthorized ignition of fire within public or private schools or on school ground
the principal of any school grades 1 to 12 shal immediately report any incident involving the unauthorized ignition of any fire within school or school grounds.
the principal shall submit in writing report of the incident to head of fire department within 24 hours on a form furnished by the department
Section 4…………..persons authorized to enter and inspect premises, inspection of institutions.
the marshal,head of the fire department or any person enter at any reasonable hour any building or other premises ,or any ship or vessel, to make inspection or investigation,without being held or deemed to be guilty of trespass.
marshal or head of department shall make inspections every 3 months of institutions
Section 5………investigation of premises and alleys as to fire hazards,remedy of conditions,penalty
marshal or head of the department may delegate his authority in writing shall at any hour,enter into buildings and order such conditions to be remedied, accumulation of combustible rubbish including waste paper ,rags,cardboard,string,packing material,sawdust,shavings, sticks waste
leather or rubber,broken boxes or barrels
if said order is not complied with within 24 hours
a fine of not more than $50 for each consecutive 48 hours
section 6………….neglect or refusal of officers to comply with duty
officer who wilfully neglects or refuses to comply with any duty or requirement imposed upon him
fine of not less than $25 nor more than $200
Section 9………Regulations relating to explosives and inflammable material
the board shall make rules and regulations for keeping,storage ,use ,manufacture,sale,handling, transportation or other disposition of gunpowder,dynamite,crude petroleum or any of its products
Each city or town shall submit a copy of each such ordinance or by-law to the board with in ten days after the passage thereof
Section 10…….regulations relative to fire prevention
the board shall hold public hearings on the first Thursday in May and October in each year.
Section 10B……….violation of regulations of board
any person who knowingly violates any rule or regulation made by board,shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than one thousand dollars
Section 10C……..alteration, repair or installation or oil burners
no person shall alter, repair or install any oil burning equipment except for electrical wiring and connections
only cleaning of an oil burner strainer or nozzle or the cleaning or replacement of a photo, in any building or structure
Section 10D…….certificate as oil burner technician
minimum age ,application fee, examination, duration of certificate,electrical work
any person 18 years of age.
application shall not be made more often than once in thirty days.
within one month after the date of receipt of his application the applicant shall be examined.
certificate shall be valid until the date of his birthday of the licensee occuring more than 12 months but not more than 24 months after the effective date of such license.
Section 23…….keeping and use of inflammable fluids permit fee
non volatile…..one quart———10 gallon in building
one gallon—————-30 gallons …except in a vehicle,motorboat, stationary engine within 50 feet of any building used for habitation.
a fee of not more than 50 cents may be charged.
Section 24……….keeping and handling of fire menance material,carpenter or paint shop habitation
no part of any building used for habitation nor that part of any lot within 50 feet shall be used as a carpenter shop or paint shop nor for the storage …keeping or handling of excelsior,shavings,sawdust,cotton,paper stock,feathers or rags.
Section 26B……….Automatic fire warning and smoke detection systems in certain buildings, enforcement,appeals
every building or structure not exceeding 70 feet in height above the mean of grade should be protected with an approved automatic fire warning system
Section 26C…….automatic smoke or heat detectors
Apartment houses 6 or more dwelling units, hotels, boarding or lodging houses, or family hotels.
Section 26D……Definitions applicable to secs 26D to 26F
“Approved monitored battery power smoke detector” battery power source
a, distinctive audible trouble signal is given before
the battery is incapable of operating smoke
detector. trouble signal at least once every
minute for 7 consecutive days
b, the unit is capable producing an alarm signal for
at least 4 continuous minutes at battery voltage
…7 days trouble signal operation
“Approved primary power smoke detector”
a, all power supplies shall operate the alarm
signal for at least 4 continuous minutes
b, all detectors shall be installed mass electrical
code
“common hallway”
a common corridor or space separately
enclosed which provides common access to
exitways
“separate sleeping area”
shall mean the area of the dwelling unit in
which the bedrooms , or sleeping rooms are
