• Phonation – voice production
• Component of the respiratory tract
• Involved in cough reflex – forced expiration of air against a closed glottis.
Where is the larynx located at?
C4-C6/7

What are the two ligaments of larynx?
Vocal (mid) and vestibular (lat)

Post crico-arytenoid, lat crico-arytenoid, transverse arytenoid, thyroarytenoid, vocalis, cricothyroid
Posterior cricoarytenoid
External rotation and abducts
Lateral crick-arytenoid
Medial rotation inwards and adduction
Transverse
Adduction of arytenoids
Thyroarytenoid and vocalis
Relaxed
Cricothyroid
Lengthens the vocal folds
What innervates the cricothyroid
