when problem is at pituitary

problem is at hypothalamus.
what can cause a period of insufficient thyroid hormone release
thyroiditis can cause a burst of thyroid relase followed by supression
sx of low thyroid
fatigue, weakness, cold intolerance, constipation, thinning hair, bradycardia and low concentration, respiratorydepression, hypothermia and death
What are the hypothyroid drugs
either synthetic or natural T4/T3

Levothyroxine T4/synthroid, Thyroid USP T3T4/Armour thyroid, Liothyronine T3/Cytomel

How is levothyroxine given and how long does it take
PO or IV, it takes 6-8 weeks to take effects
who would you be very careful with and start levothyroxine and Armour slow
elderly over 65 and those with CAD and those with Addisons disease
signs of Levothyroxine T4 overdose
patpitations, tachycaria, intolerance to heat, anxiety and CAD acellerations and osteoporosis
what must be done with soeone who has addisons and low thyroid
you must replace cortisol first, if you don’t and you just give thyroid you may kill them
what is thyroid USP
Thyroid USP/Armour: porcine thyroid gland tissue, dosed in mg
how does Armour compare to synthroid
60mg of t4/T3 thyroid USP:100mcg of T4 synthroid:25mcg of T3 cytomel
